By Earlene McGee

One of the best ways of ensuring that you remain healthy and fit is by playing different types of games. Most of the people have constructed courts around their compounds to play these games especially in the evenings and during their free time. You can utilize such time to play such a game with your friends and children. If you have a lawn in your compound, you should ensure that you learn about the tennis court maintenance procedures to ensure that it serves you for a long time.

One of the ways of maintaining the courts in good condition is removing the mildew and mold in the corners and the shaded areas. In most cases, it is possible for the mold to grow in the corners of the courts where the debris accumulate most. This is common especially with the outdoor courts that are exposed to all weather conditions. The mildew and mold make the field slippery for players and this affects the quality of their sport activities.

You need to know that there are also indoor courts where the tennis sport takes place. With the indoor courts, you will not only require to clean them, but also to vacuum them. Most experts recommend that you vacuum the courts with the right detergents once or twice a year. Other than the cleaning reagents, you should also use equipment with soft bristles to remove the stubborn mildew and mild.

When you select outdoor courts, you need to know there are challenges that are involved. One of the challenges that come along with these courts is that during the rainy season, it becomes tricky to engage yourself in this activity. This is because; when it rains, you find that there are stagnant waters left on the field. To avoid stopping your activity, you need to find better ways of getting rid of the stagnating water.

There should be no foreign objects and items on the courts. You need to always check if there lay objects such as leaves, broken glasses, papers, sticks and stones among others. These objects may cause serious problems to the players especially if they happen to injure them. On the other hand, such objects make the courts look dirty and unpleasant for competitions and other exciting sport moments.

It is also important to clean these courts as often as possible. Sometimes, there could be plant materials thrown all over the surface such as fruit peels, dead leaves and other organic material. These make the lawn look dirty and unpleasant to play on. They also provide a good area for the growth of mold and breeding of insects and worms. Ensure that such materials are cleaned off the playing surface.

It is advisable to hire experts whenever you need maintenance services for your courts. They will clean it in the right way and check the drainage system. They can also advise you on what to do to ensure that the court remains in the right conditions.

Finally, you should discourage the members of the public from carrying out some of the activities in these courts. You should put warning signs and banners at the entrance of the courts indicating that no one should ride bikes or use skateboards on the courts. Moreover, they should not drag benches, chairs or throw foods and drinks on the courts.
