Must Not Forget Things To Drop Into Your Family Survival Kit

By Ruthie Livingston

Safety is a primary concern to a lot of people. With all the environmental hazards and concerns that we have at present, its easy to see why families and individuals are now becoming more concerned about their security. But in as much as we want to be always protected, there are matters that are way beyond our control.

Plus, there is this fact about natural disasters, things that are way beyond our control. Some of them can be predicted while others cannot. What we can do against its wrath is to pack up a set of family survival kit able to provide the most basic and useful items for the members of our family. We can never be too sure when they strike. And while there are predictions, all we can do is to prepare. As you go on packing your kit, be sure not to forget any of the following for a start.

Water. The most ideal ones will be those bottled or gallon water that can be stashed away for long with minimal risk of contamination. The larger your family is, the more bottles you will need. This is vital to make sure that you stay sane by not getting dehydrated. All bad things start to happen once your body starts to feel the strain of a minimal water supply lesser than what it needs.

Easy to prepare foods. By this, we mean those that no longer need some cooking. Most popular picks include chocolate bards and canned goods. There will be rations provided by the state and some concerned organizations when you go to evacuation sites. But while you are at your home, its best to have some foods packed up.

First aid kit. Times of calamities are critical moments. You will never know when you need some medication. Aside from those common tools used for treating wounds, you should also stash some generic tablets for fever, headaches and colds. Pharmacies and supermarkets may be closed during calamity, so better have some medicines ready ahead of time.

Lighting items with extra batteries. Be reminded that calamities can cause electricity to fail. This means that you will also not have access to lights. Battery powered flash lights are good materials for providing this light. Needless to say, you should couple it with batteries as well. You do not know when electrical supply will come back. Better stash enough items beforehand.

Radios and communication gadgets. While the supply of energy can be scarce, there is still a high chance for you to get in touch with people from the outside with some good communication tools like a radio. Have them on board.

Blankets. When worse comes to worst, you may need to leave your place and settle on centers that will keep you safe. Blankets provide warmth and comfort and can even act as a clothing substitute in case the spare ones you have gets wet.

No one is in direct control in terms of any natural disaster. It will happen when it happens and the least that we can do is to have a kit containing basic necessary items that we can carry anywhere. Start securing all those needed materials as early as now.
