Getting The Best Crane Rentals For Your Next Project

By Pam Schmidt

When you are beginning that large, or even that small construction project, you have to have everything lined up at the right time. You need all of the trades scheduled in. You need to have a dumpster for trash and debris. You even need to call a professional cleaning company to be present. One of the most important things you need to have available is a crane to move everything into place when it is needed. That is when you should really consider contacting a company who deals with crane rentals.

Many general contractors will go out a buy all of this gear. The are reasons that this may not be the best decision. It is because of the larger than needed costs in the purchase and maintenance. It would be a better choice, if possible, to rent everything you are going to need.

One of the reasons that rentals are the best way to go is the expensive price tag on most heavy equipment. It ties up a lot of capital and sits around a good portion of the time. It can be bought on credit, of course, and that reduces the flexibility you, as a building contractor needs moving forward.

When you purchase heavy equipment, including a crane, you must also hire an operator for it. That is yet another full time employee with all of the employee expenses that comes with that. When you rent that crane, the operator comes with it. The operator already knows the machine and what it is capable of.

You will also need to maintain your new purchase. This means another hire. This time for a maintenance person and all of his tools. They will need to be trained for daily maintenance checks. This is a larger expense than you may think if you have not been through it before. The rental company will maintain it when you rent from them.

When something breaks, as can happen from time to time, It is always expensive to replace. By having a lot of needed parts on the site, you can quickly get it back in shape, however, that takes more space and more money that may not need to have been spent. The rental company is on the hook for things that break and will get you back on schedule.

An issue with equipment, such as cranes that you buy, present problems when the project is finished. You must store it somewhere and it still must be maintained as it can not simply set idle. The building or renting of a storage facility can cost more than being able to call the rental company and having them come and pick it up.

Finding the right company to rent a crane will take some research. The right company will have references from other building professionals. You can check with many of these firms to see what they have and what you can get when you need it. This is one of the best pieces to keep you on track and on time.
