Useful And Essential Facts About Bender Boards

By Maria Graham

Typically, landscape is divided into various sections. The number of sections in a landscape may depend upon various factors such as the purpose of landscape. For example, a landscape may have flowerbeds, walkways, and turf among other sections. To enhance appearance, every section needs to be demarcated. The separation of various sections is done using bender boards. The boards help to generate clear boarders between sections.

Various materials are used to make these products. Wood is one of the materials in common use. There are also other artificial material in use that are designed to look like metal, wood, and stone. Wood offers that natural touch that everyone wants and that is why most boards are made with material that looks like wood or wood itself.

When installing an edging, the first step is to decide how much of the material is enough for the job. This can be done easily using a piece of thread or similar material. One should run a piece of thread through all areas where the edging is supposed to pass through. The thread should then be measured to determine the length of edging material that is needed. One should buy a little extra of the material to cater for discrepancies in measurement.

For more accuracy, stakes should be used to help with running the thread. Most garden stores sell these products so it should not be hard to find them. The existence of different brands of the product makes it necessary to choose wisely. Appropriateness of the product bought to the landscape must be ensured. One should match the product with the color and material of the driveway, walkway, plants, and soil.

Some people prefer to choose the color of the material to match that of the walkway or driveway. The color can also match that of the house. Choosing different products for different sections of the landscape can also help improve the creativity of the landscape.

The process of installing an edging material may depend greatly on the manufacturer of the material. The processes may range from being simple to being very complex. For instance, wooden benders may require to be soaked in water for at many hours before installation. The advantage, of this is that it enhances the flexibility of the board, hence enabling it to bend easily.

During installation, a trench of six inches in width should be dug. Depending on the product, the width can be more or less. The trench should go deeper than the height of the board. To help direct the boards during installation, one should have stakes planted in the trench 18 inches apart. The board should be installed on the outer side of the stakes.

Nailing of the board should be done on the upper part of the stakes after installation. One should ensure there is an overlap of about one foot when joining two boards to each other. One should consider trimming the ends of the edging material in places they overlap. This will ensure that the materials fit well together.
