Pool Maintenance Tips Before Calling Pool Service

By Miranda Sweeney

Professionals are trained to maintain a pool. But as an owner, you are also obliged to maintain it in simple ways. All of the states and countries have professionals like pool service Pinecrest. They will be more than willing to help if you need their service.

A clean one is something to brag about. Though it is the job of a professional, you should also help maintain it. You own it. If it is dirty, people will make comments about you, not on the service company. Here are ways to help keep it nice and clean.

Use a vacuum to keep the water clear. Vacuuming also lessens the chemicals you need. Do this weekly to achieve top result.

Floating debris is a hassle, especially once they sink. It becomes harder to get them out. Next time, make sure you skim them. Skimming prevents debris from sinking and makes the circulation system more efficient. Another way to aid the circulation is by cleaning strainer baskets on a weekly basis. Both skimming and cleaning the strainer basket lessens the amount of chlorine you need.

The water level is very important. If it drops, the pump is at risk of getting damaged. Pools lose water due to swimming, after a swim, and evaporation. While cleaning, check the level as well. You can do this by using your skimmer. The water must not go down the level of the skimmer. To get it back to safe levels, use a garden hose.

You will also need to clean the filter. One thing they have in common is that they need to be cleaned periodically depending on the filter type and usage. A sign that will tell you it is time to clean it is an increase in flow between the pressure gauge and flow meter.

Make sure to maintain the pH level. Aside from being a safety measure, this is also to ensure it is healthy. You can monitor the pH level by using a testing kit. If you get a reading between 7.2 and 7.8 it is an ideal range.

Leaks in pools are often unnoticeable. Once you realize you have one, it is already too late. To help verify a leak, fill a bucket with water. Put the bucket on a step of your pool. To prevent it from floating, place a brick or rock inside it for weight. Mark the outside and inside of the bucket as a level indicator. Make sure they have the same amount of water. After a day or 2, check the bucket. If the decrease outside is greater than the inside, you have a leak. That will be the time to call professionals to fix it.

You need to take care of your pool because it is a luxury most people do not have. It is a luxury you will be happy to share with the ones you love. So take care of it, so that it will also take care of you.
