Reasons You Should Take Up Environmentally Friendly Concrete

By Enid Hinton

With the ever increasing construction needs to cater for the exponentially increasing world population, there is a need to provide sustainable solution to this problem. This should however be done without negatively impacting the environment. This has given rise to environmentally friendly concrete which is set to solve these problems.

Concrete is a mixture of aggregate, sand and water mixed in various proportions to attain a consistent mixture that can be molded into any form or shape desired. However concrete is moving from this traditional form to more environmentally friendly forms. This is achieved by using recycled materials as well as ensuring associated costs are kept at a minimum.

Eco friendly solid is also defined by the volume of carbon. This may be measured by the volume of carbon within the solid itself against a set benchmark. The measure may also be by the amount of carbon emitted during the manufacturing process for the solid. However, this solid is improved by up to 25% by adding in fly ash, a waste product from coal burning.

To achieve Eco-friendly and environmentally friendly cement, manufacturers have adopted to using recycled materials. The solid itself is made from recycled water, as well as leftover concrete from previous projects. Portland cement also uses recycled materials in terms of organic matter from corals, limestone, clay and sand.

There are endless possibilities when using solid mixture. This is picked from the nature of concrete. Being semi fluid and readily flexible, the solid can take any shape, form, curve or angle needed by the designers and contractors of any given building. This kind of flexibility coupled with the strength gives solid its ability to hold up any large and space without much problem.

Construction that uses solid provides an easy, ambient and healthy living for the occupants. This is evidenced by the ease of cleaning and maintaining the concrete structures. It also has innate characteristics that prevent quick wearing out and destruction by fire and water. It also does not require special treatment in terms of its preservation.

When choosing materials for a construction project, durability is a key factor that many people will look for. Housing units built with concrete are for the long haul and are meant to last lengthy periods. Such buildings can withstand a majority of the natural disasters including floods, heat waves, hurricanes, earthquakes, tornado without much problem.

Using concrete helps in saving the other building materials, since most of them are based on natural resources like wood. Such have been dwindling as their price continues to rise. This coupled with the call by conservationists to find alternative sources of fuel and construction needs has put Eco-friendly concrete ahead of the pack in terms of helping in environmental conservation.

The continued uptake of environmentally friendly solid has increased the spur and velocity of campaigns and actions toward environmental conservation. It is in the best interest of everybody that we all cooperate and push for use of Eco-friendly materials to ensure the environment is safeguarded.
