It is also a given for him to consider what the product's purpose is. More than that, he will also have to determine what the materials he will use this kind of product on.

For the factor related to the environment, this basically refers to the location where he will be using this product at. It will be good for him if he can decide whether he will use this product as adhesives or as sealants. Depending on the purpose, he will have to decide on how strong the bond should be. He might end up making use of this as an alternative to the mechanical fixing like his nail.

It might be useful for him to consider whether the bond is rigid or if it is flexible. At times, he will be needing the more rigid bond while there are other times when he has to consider flexibility. It is all up to him to decide whether he will feel better using a rigid bond or if a flexible bond will do already.

He should then consider the kind of material he should be using this product on. He should be prepared to work on the said materials and also check out whether it is compatible with the bond or not.

Another one that he will have to think about is whether the said silicone sealant will be able to support the product or the material. This basically refers to the stability of these two items. If he cannot ensure stability, there might be obvious discolorations and even damages on the material he is working on.
