Some Ways To Train For Ambient Air Monitoring

By Janice Flour

Conservation of the environment, especially matters to do with air pollution, has become a passion for many people. Ambient air monitoring training has formed an integral part in this drive. Factories, volcanic eruptions and power plants are continuously polluting the air.

Asbestos is one material that has resulted in toxic air pollution, which has ended up putting people's life in danger. It has thus become critical for people to be trained on how to monitor the air. This training is especially aimed at those people who are part of organizations that deal with air pollution matters.

The Air Pollution Training Institute is tasked with training students in air monitoring. The institute offers a wide range of formats for its courses which it then creates numerous flexible opportunities for learners.

Your training needs as well as your preferences are the key factors that determine the specific area of study. Additionally, your scope of work will also be a determinant factor in this. The specific study areas include monitoring of ambient air, monitoring of airborne hazardous material air pollution system and continuous emission monitoring. If you are working and the employer has set this as mandatory in your job description, it is recommended that you find out from him the subjects that you should be pursuing so as to make the choosing process easier.

Those who might be interested in taking up training courses should visit the institutes' website for a detailed scope of all that is required. There are around 20 courses found within 38 titles that are offered at the training institute. An individual must take time to study each course independently before making a decision on the course to be studied.

It is up to you to choose the mode of training that you prefer. The institute offers a number of them which include classroom-based, web-based, and self-instructional and tele-courses. Classroom courses are mainly conducted at the facility and normally require registration before one can proceed. All learning takes place in the classroom which means the learner needs to be physically present for the sessions. At the end of the course, assessment is performed to determine the level of knowledge that has been acquired.

Also available are Web courses. These can be accessed online although a test must be taken at the end of the course and the student is able to reach the 90 percent point, then a completion certificate is issued. Tele-courses are also available at the institute and learners are able to learn through satellite broadcasts. Apart from tele-courses, students can also opt for self-instructional courses. Although some modules can be accessed in multiple formats, some of them can only be accessed through a single format. Interested persons can obtain more information from the institute's website.

Application forms for registration can be downloaded from the website of the institute, filled and submitted for those who are interested in classroom courses and tele-course. Registration for private employees is however slightly different from the rest of the registration procedures. Web courses don't need an individual to register for the courses.
