Ways Of Planning For A Team Building Adventure

By Patricia Parker

When you are a manager in a business or the one in charge of a project, you will have a hard time if the workers are united. They may be qualified but working together helps meet the target within a short period of time. A team building adventure is a good way to bring them together. Planning for one requires the following.

The challenges of employees in the business should be highlighted before you can start making any other plans for this endeavor. Get to know which of these challenges can be solved within the business dwellings and which ones requires you to go out as a group. Talking to the workers or using questionnaires is an important way to gain information. Questionnaires are recommended because people will freely express themselves since their identities are hidden.

The activities you are going to undertake should also be listed down. Going somewhere when you are not decided on what do is not advisable. You will spend a big part of the day choosing activities, and this will result in time wastage. Knowing what you are going to do on that particular day will also help the group members to prepare themselves in advance.

You also need to choose a destination. There are many places you can visit, and it is important to choose somewhere most employees would be comfortable with. Hence, seeking their opinions is crucial. You must, however, ensure that the place you choose will help the institution in meeting the goals of the event. There are places specially meant for both adventure and recreation.

You must also choose a day and make a schedule to follow during the endeavor. The weather forecast must be considered so that you can choose a time when the weather is friendly. The availability of your workers is also important. The schedule helps to ensure that you do not waste the whole day on irrelevant activities. A schedule makes the plan look official, and the workers will cooperate more.

Use of money without accounting for it can cost the business a lot of losses, and that is why a budget is required. Determine how much it is likely to cost you by listing all the requirements against their costs. These include transport, moderator fees, food, drinks and gate pass fees where applicable. The person in charge will be careful with his spending as he is limited by the budget.

Look for a moderator from the activities. If the person controlling things is a member of the group, he will not be able to mingle with other members freely. He will also be the one making the judgement in cases of competitions, and some employees may feel like he is biased. That is why a professional moderator should be hired.

To know if the trip was worth it, an analysis is needed. This is a follow-up activity in which the management tries to get opinions from workers on the experience. If there is anything they did not like, it is noted down for future plans. Observing any changes in how they relate to each other and how their performance is after the trip is essential too.
