Create Unique Appeal With Luminaries Lights

By Diane Ellis

Decorating is one of the most effective ways to bring a certain type of flair to any party, holiday or event. The things that are chosen to embellish the walls, tables, yards and more are what set the mood and enhance the experience of all who behold it. Using luminaries lights to adorn a space can add a touch of magic and adventure.

To give a porch, entry or walkway a bright and inviting glow is the most common use for this kind of product. These are great for basking a party space in warm, inviting light and decorating holiday settings, tables and mantles. The ability to create versatile moods including reverent, festive, romantic, eerie and whimsical simply by changing casings and locations is part of the appeal.

Vellum or paper bags, both printed and plain, are among the more preferred casing for this type of item. Die cut designs are popular and may either be on the products surface or on an insert that goes inside of the solid one. They got their start as an easy crafting project and are now so well liked that they are mass manufactured for sale.

Sand is typically used inside the items to weigh them down and keep them from being blown over by strong winds. This substance also helps control the risk of fire when the individual chooses to use natural flames to create the illumination. A variety of lighting options are accessible to meet a wide range of purposes, needs, preferences and convenience.

As mentioned, the traditional option for illuminating these products are candles, typically either votive or tealight size. They provide a natural looking flicker and warm ambient glow that is quite welcoming. When the bags feature a silhouetted or die cut design, the dancing flame creates a shadow like effect that can be most interesting.

An oil lamp type of lighting source can provide a somewhat brighter illumination. Generally, they are small jars that hold only a few ounces of fuel that is meant to burn for a particular amount of time, capped with a metal lid through which a saturated wick extends. Their flame tends to be stronger and higher and as a precaution, should not be left unsupervised.

An alternative to open flame lighting are battery operated LED units. Items of this type are available in a variety of styles such as those that look like tealight candles, round discs with multi-colored bulbs, and small rectangular pieces with multiple diodes. Many of the designs have a switch feature that allows the glow to either burn steady, or to flicker like a real fire.

There is a more versatile and advanced type of LED unit that is considerably larger and can house more bulbs for increase brightness or bigger casings. As they are generally of a much heavier construction, there is no need to add sand to the decor to prevent wind damage. Most of the models run on batteries, though some of them also offer consumers the option to connect several of them together on a special cord that will allow them to use one electrical power source.
