What Not To Miss At Belize Connection

By Dennis Miller

Everything beautiful in the world seems to have its source or end at Belize. The Belize Connection offers breathtaking attractions that beat all others around the world. Whenever you have a chance to visit the area, there are thousands of places, activities and amenities to enjoy. This is one area that will deliver real value for money.

25 miles to the north is the Abergris Caye, an island perfect for snorkelers and fun divers. It allows access to magnificent barrier reefs that strategically stand around the island. Once you are done with diving and other water activities, the island will offer relaxing lounges, luxury hotels, restaurants and shops. The island has no cars, safe for bicycles and golf carts that rule the cobblestone streets.

The Blue Hole was not declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for nothing. It is your point of access to underground tunnels, scenic rock formats and caverns. This is a great reward for scuba divers. The best time to visit is around April-May season because of the spectacular sea life and scenic surrounding environment. The point is 410 meters below sea level and offers a rewarding experience.

Hol Chan Reserve is a three miles wide area that offers an incredible collection of marine life. It offers a chance to interact with sharks, stingrays and eels, among other sea creatures. Divers have a field day at this point. The management has also established an information center that allows you to maximize resources and time. You are welcome to visit the place any day between 9am and 5pm.

About 20 miles to the north is a tropical themed Caye Caulker town that is uninhabited by locals. The site offers an opportunity for such activities as fishing, sailing and kayaking. There are restaurants, shops and hotels near the Split. It is amazing to see the effects of Hurricane Hattie of 1960 that split the area into two. If you are not a fun of water, you can leave your shoes and gadget to walk around the island bare feet.

Towards the direction of the setting sun sits a range of ancient Mayan dwellings. They are surrounded by tranquil butterfly gardens, rolling hills and verdant jungles. The town centering all these attractions is called San Ignacio and offers traditional dishes with a wide range of affordable hotels. The Caracol Archeological Reserve gives you an opportunity to witness the different stages of archeological excavations.

The Placencia stretch features beach front villas around the calm Caribbean waters. This is the only spot with golden sand on mainland Belize. There are more Mayan ruins and a wildlife sanctuary nearby to visit. The Monkey River welcomes you with iguanas, howler monkeys, crocodiles and boas. There are creole or Kriol dishes to enjoy at this spot.

All these attractions are anchored by Belize City that is split into north and south by the Haulover Creek. The Swing Bridge connects the north and south. With rural rain forests, cays and Mayan ruins surrounding the city, you have enough in your hands. A stay in this area is affordable with communication, currency and transport options being favorable to global tourists.
