By Johnathan Black

Anyone who has spent time fishing, knows the great enjoyment and sense of relaxation it can bring. Those who are interested in learning more about the sport, would do well to gain as much knowledge as possible before they embark on their first fishing journey. By taking the tips in this piece to heart, it is possible to prepare yourself for a fun, productive fishing trip, even if it is your initial time out.

Pay attention to the weather. Wait a few days after a storm or a cold front. If the water is cold, fishes will stay at the bottom and not look for food. Usually, the water starts warming up again two days after a cold front has passed through an area.

Fishing should always be undertaken with a group of people who understand the importance of silence. Unlike many other sports, fishing requires long periods of time with no sound at all and very little movement. This helps to lure the fish closer to your spot without scaring them off.

Dress in layers. Many good fishing trips can last all day long, and even on shorter trips, the temperature can change drastically. By wearing many light layers of clothing, you will give yourself plenty of options. With some minor adjustments, you can make yourself comfortable, no matter what the current temperature is.

If you are salt water fishing, make sure that your fishing line can handle a higher pound testing weight. The testing weight helps to determine the load that the line can handle. In salt water, your fish will be larger than they are in fresh water and therefore, a higher pound testing weight is necessary.

Here's a fresh water fishing tip for you. Get out of the sun and head for the trees along the bank of the lake or river. Fish love to hang out in the shallow water in the shade of trees and bushes. This is especially true during spawning season. So, when you are out on a lake, take some time to fish in the shade and increase your catch for the day.

Sure, competition can make or break friendships, but if you're the one coming out on top, it won't be you who's crying! The best part is now that you know how to catch the best fish, you'll be able to go back with your friends and share it amongst each other.
