Signs And Symptoms Of Meningitis

You have always been concerned abut the signs and symptoms of meningitis. Many people have found out that in the many cases of the people that were afflicted with it, the condition started out much like the normal flu symptoms that a lot of people experienced. Only to find out later though, that things actually escalated into a condition is considered a life threatening one.

Many of the people who have experienced these conditions have attested that the problem started form a viral, a fungal, or even a bacterial inspection. It was simple enough to begin with. But the issue actually escalated, the infection spread to the brain or the rest of the immune system. If not treated properly, or without antibiotics, the condition can become life threatening.

When suffering from this, expect that you will feel a stiffness in your neck, your shoulders or your back. This is caused by the swelling in the brain as well as the spinal chord. As a result, it becomes a little more difficult for one to move these parts of his body. This is a symptom that should be watched out for as it can easily be mistaken as a sign of the flu by many.

There is fever too. As the infection travels, it reaches the immune system, the person suffering will already start feeling a spike in his temperature. It is in this stage that some people will experience rashes too. This is often common to those that experience the bacterial infection type. It can be the most dangerous one, so it is important that people will monitor these temperature spikes.

There are those who reported that they experienced headaches. Unfortunately, these are not like the usual headaches that Penelope experience every time. Since this is caused be the swollen membranes on the spinal cord or on the brain, the headaches can be splitting. It will not let up that easy. Some even feel nauseous. There are others who reported feeling sick or throwing up.

Since the condition will cause the brain to swell, it is expected that sufferers of the condition will likely experience confusion, some can be noticed to be lacking in focus. There are others who would even experience temporary memory loss. To other people, they can experience range of symptoms from getting insomniac, having difficulty waking up, and there are also those who will get irritable.

There are individuals who develop sudden sensitivity to light too. There are those people who find it hard to be outside or to be under the lights inside their homes. Many have reported that these people ended up developing severe headaches as result of the exposure. There are others who have reported that their exposure to these glaring lights cause them to experience migraine.

If you notice that you or a loved one is suffering form two or more of these condition, they may be considered as signs and symptoms of meningitis. Make sure that you will not waste time. Have an appointment to your medical practitioner arranged, this way, he can perform the necessary tests to ensure that you will get the necessary treatment and medication for the condition.
