Garage Conversions Give Growing Families More Elbow Room

By Neil Masiello

If you are like most people, your garage does far more than simply provide protection for your car. In fact, you may be lucky if your car can still fit inside it. Your garage may be a storage area instead where old household items and clutter gets stashed away in boxes, never to be seen again.

It is such a waste to use your garage as a junk room. Imagine all you could do with the extra space. You could have another bedroom, a family room, playroom, or an exercise area. Another room would give your family more living space and would add value to your home. It could be the ideal place for kids to be noisy and rowdy, or the perfect place for adults to steal some privacy and quiet.

A reliable builder chelsea who knows what he is doing when it comes to garage conversion will make your garage look just like a room addition from the outside and inside. It will fit in perfectly with the appearance of the rest of your home. Fortunately, converting a garage is easy to do. After all, the basic structure is already in place. The biggest change will be to the wall with the garage door. Windows can be placed there, or a solid wall if you prefer. It is even possible to leave the garage door in place so the room can be converted back into a garage at a future time.

The needs of a growing family change over the years. You'll have to do things like change a room into a nursery, and then into a bedroom. You might even need to add another bedroom when your kids get older. An aging parent may need to come live with you, or your adult children may need to return to the nest.

Creating additional living space by converting your garage is the ideal solution. You can make a nice large room or a small comfy apartment, according to whatever your family needs. You don't really need a big budget because you can create a play area with very little money. Your kids will be happy to hang out in a room with a pool table and couch even if it isn't very fancy. There are endless possibilities, but whatever you decide on, it will be much better than using the space to store old junk and clutter. A side benefit is that converting your garage will cause you to finally clean out your clutter, and the stuff you truly need can be stored in a rental unit or backyard shed.

Of course, if you have an expensive motorcycle or sports car, you may want to keep your garage space, so consider adding a second story so you can add living space and house your valuable toys too. If you are like most people though, your car will be fine parked in your driveway, and you'll be better satisfied by using the garage space in a more useful way.
