By Neil Masiello

There is a reason homeowners spend so much time decorating their homes on the inside. Most people spend significant amounts of time inside their homes, and they feel better when their homes are well designed. The problem is you may not be spending nearly as much time improving the appearance of the properly surrounding your home. The condition of the exterior of your home does matter, since you will feel better coming home when the landscape is well cared for and designed.

If you are ready to improve your home on the outside so it sends happy, welcoming vibes, the following simple landscaping projects will give you some ideas. These are just ideas that should get you thinking creatively about your own yard.

Make Your Fence Unique

Every home on the block doesn't have to be enclosed with basic chain link fencing. It is not even required that your fence go straight around the edges of your property. Get creative with fencing ideas and you can give your landscape some personality and charm.

For example, rather than going all the way around your backyard with fencing you may decide to corner off a select area of the yard. If you have a swimming pool, you may fence that off with decorative wooden posts that match the style and color of your home. You may also choose to fence in a play area for your children or to create a fenced-off area for outdoor parties and other events with family and friends.

Start by getting familiar with the decorative fencing sold in local stores. Ask about styles and colors that can be custom ordered. You may want to search around online to see how others are using fencing to improve their landscape.

A local fencer chelsea can be consulted if you are not sure how or where to install a particular type of fence. If you are only doing a small area of your yard, you may not need any help if you have a way of getting the posts secure in the ground.

Go to New Heights

Don't limit your landscape to things that are easily placed down low. Go high with a couple decorative elements to easily add interest to your landscape.

If you have boring light posts in your yard, you may find flowering plants that grow high and let them climb those posts. Flowers may also grow up trees with some assistance like wire, or you can put flowers that climb up your mailbox post. Sometimes a pop of color from a beautiful plant or the slightest scent of a nearby plant can make a big impact on your exterior living environment.

You may also be able to place lighting features higher than expected to create interest and drama in your yard. Look for unusual decorative lighting options, especially those that operate on solar power since they can be placed anywhere you want them to go.

Work with Color

Call in a painter chelsea and have them put decorative pops of color in unexpected places. One simple idea is to pick a section of your fence to highlight and have it painted a different color from the rest of the fence. Play up that area of the fence so it has decorative flair that draws the eye. Different colored lights may also be used, or you may light up a fish pond in a colorful glow.

Now that you have some idea how to create a visually appealing landscape for your home, think of your won creative ideas and get a project started.
