Start Your Home Improvements By Cleaning With Products That Are Green-Based

By Ben Peterson

If possible, you may want to consider inexpensive ways to do home improvement projects - one of these would be cleaning your house thoroughly. Your house should be cleaned on a regular basis; this is one of the best ways to do an inexpensive home improvement project. If you do not want to clean your home, this will definitely be reflected in the quality of the cleaning. Because of this, cleaning green should be our top priority. In this article we will discuss some green cleaning techniques you can use to improve the worth of your home (and your health).

The easiest thing to do is to choose a green based cleanser line. Just because it is environmentally friendly doesn't mean that it will be more expensive than other cleaning products, and brands like Seventh Generation can be found most anywhere. One of the bigger stores, for instance Target, has pretty cheap prices for that brand. If you are used to using sprays and traditional types of cleansers, these lines (Method and Biokleen are others) are great ways to transition into other environmentally friendly cleaning methods. When you decide to start using these products, they are ready as soon as you open them up. There is nothing to prepare and no extra ingredients to purchase. Spray and clean is all you do after you buy the product.

The cleansers, salt, vinegar, baking soda and lemon juice, should become your fab four. Whatever you need to have cleaned, can be cleaned by these ingredients, used in various combinations. If you need scrubbing, you will need the salt. When you need something for stains, grease and mildew, or just a topical wipe, the best cleansers in the store won't beat lemon juice, baking soda or vinegar. These ingredients can be used in many ways, and by doing some research, a lot of cleaning recipes can be found.

Consider putting on a unique addition to make your home more classy. Perhaps you can add built-ins, a wine cellar or a library. Your guests will be amazed, as well as future prospective buyers.

Get new metal fixtures for your bathroom. You can find items such as shower curtain rods, towel racks or knobs in different shapes and colors. A lot of places will put these together in a package so you can put them in quickly and efficiently.

Homeowners should avoid choosing unlicensed contractors to accomplish home improvement projects. There are laws and regulations in every state for building contractors. They don't have to do a test to get certification, though. It's important to realize that if a contractor doesn't have proper licensing, he probably does not have proper insurance. This is a big risk for you.

A lot of people must not realize how the state of their home and its value can be determined by how clean it is. When you switch to green cleaning methods or environmentally friendly cleaning techniques you raise the price of your home. You improve upon its structural state as well (think of what those cleansers are doing to the structure of the materials that make up your home).
