Wine Destination 101: Lodi Wineries

Lodi wineries are the residence to massive and gorgeous array of major wineries. One thing to mention about this region is their abundant resource of grapes. Because of this, Lodi wine country is able to send out thousands and thousands of wine cases each year that also includes mass unbranded wines. Occupying more than 75,000 acres with 60 amazing wineries scattered across the land, they are considered at the top of planting grapes and transforming them into exceptional wine like Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfadel, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. The chronicles of Lodi wineries dates all the way back from 1800's when gold miners became farmers when they found out that they have more than enough grapes to supply wine vineyards. Currently, Lodi Wineries has visibly progress into one of the most recommended destinations for wine lovers. Almost all the wineries have their own tasting areas and will surely give you a memorable experience there.

Just by reading its name, you will immediately know what to expect from Abundance Vineyards. The winery makes some of best varietals in the region such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Dessert wine, Chardonnay, Merlot, Red Blends, Petite Sirah, Sparking wine, White Blends, Syrah and Zinfadels. Aside from the great selection of wine, visitors are thrust into their gorgeous landscape area were you can go on a picnic, watch performances and concerts while they are on tour. The Mencarinin brothers built Abundance winery and have partnered with Jim Yerkes, who is now the lead winemaker of the whole estate. They all pledge to give their guests the most amazing wine experience they have ever had.

D'art Wines is also celebrated for its excellent wine and tasting rooms. Their tasting rooms give off an elegant vibe and add a more exquisite experience to your whole visit there. It size is enough to comfortable accommodate big groups of people that are taking advantage of their free wine tasting sessions coupled with some food pairing such as their delicious chocolate chips and chili.

Duckhorn Vineyards is a top-rated boutique winery in Lodi wine country. Its expertise lies in making the most excellent Merlot in the whole region. Built by Dan Duckhorn in 1976, he has manages to consistently increase his yearly production which now totals to over a staggering 20,000 cases. The winery makes rationed single Cabernet Sauvignons and Merlots together with less costly varieties but equally famed Sauvignon Blanc. Mr. Duckhorn was named the "Winemaker of the Year" in 2005 by the San Francisco Chronicle. Upto this day, the vineyard has adopted several different brands onto their wines like the 'Migration' and 'Decoy'.

In the middle of Sierra Foothills and San Francisco Bay Delta, Van Ruiten Family Winery has been up and running since 1999. They are deemed favorites for their one-of-a-kind weather with cool gusts of wind and fresh air during the afternoons. Managed by the Van Ruiten Family, they are distinguished to be the carriers of wine standard among the numerous Lodi Wineries.

Right in the middle of the base of Sierra Nevada and Sacramento- San Joaquin Delta, you can find the marvelous Jessie's Grove Winery. Unlike most wineries in the Lodi wine country, they take advantage of their location and are a spearhead in promoting the development of wine grapes of excellent quality and its production into premium wine varietals. Just some of the more distinguished wine blends include the 2010 Jessence Blanc, 2011 Muscat Blanc, 2012 Chardonnay, 2010 Dry rose and other classic varietals.
