By Angel Dudley

End of the season trips can be some of the most exciting and colorful trips of the season. Fall is a great time for backpacking as leaves are turning, and those on such trips get to experience the absolute best Fall has to offer.

One of America's favorites is the Appalachian Trails. This magnificent trail cuts through 14 states of natural beauty. From Georgia to Maine these mountains rise and fall in a magnificent display of beauty and nature that most will never experience. While most will never have the time or inclination to rough it through fourteen states, they might have the time and inclination for one of nature's most perfect scenes in New Hampshire, at the peak of the mountain. Or try Maine's wilderness and beauty.

For those that have never experienced the west and all its visual beauty Colorado's Continental Divide is a must for any last of the year backpacker. It is a sight to behold with trails at eight thousand feet in elevation. Those that dare will meet Colorado's Gray's Peak and observe glacier National Park. But take care the mountains can be cold.

If rustic, battling the elements, and testing skills sounds like a thrill then Uinta High-Line Trail might be on the agenda. It is one of Utah's most famous trails. But it also not for the faint of heart. This rough trail and testing the elements experience means survival skills are put to the test when shots of lightning begin above the tree line on this mountain. They are a common and there is little to no place to take shelter.

And for those that are wondering what else the mountain has to offer consider the 75 miles of exquisitely beautiful waters that on the trails. It's views are breathtaking, and the peak at Utah's King's peak is also a great place to view the highest peaks.

Montana known for its beauty and rich and luscious outdoor scenes, fishing and pure escape from city scenes offers the northern Rocky Mountains. It also offers Yellowstone River, scenery worth a long drive to get there, and a type of relaxation and serenity few of viewed. It is a more moderate trail, but beautiful and breath taking.

Virginia holds another exquisitely beautiful place, with Shenandoah Valley. It is a perfect mix between the great outdoors, relaxation, beauty, and rustic living. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains its stunning display of nature's wonder will live visitors hoping for more. Bring a camera and enjoy this place that feels next to paradise itself.

And while other trips can be planned last minute the Grand Cannon, though a wonderful, and unforgettable trip, will need at least four months for approval to climb the trials. It is well worth the wait, however, as it is one of the natural wonders of the world. After traveling there it isn't hard to know why. It's an experience of a lifetime and is one of the best backpacking trips in the USA.
