How to Write a Popular and Profitable eBook

By Kayla Hooper

Writing ebooks is quickly becoming a popular and appealing way to earn an income online. There is now a market for any type of ebook you can imagine, as ebook readers are everywhere. eBooks used to be a narrow field where online marketers sold information to one another. eBooks today, however, encompass all subjects and there are lots of novels as well as nonfiction books. Making money with eBooks is certainly a worthwhile business, but first you must have an eBook to sell! This is harder than it looks, so here are some tips to help you out.

There are all sorts of software programs out there that you can use to help you format your eBook as you write it. Anyone that uses software can avoid the typical formatting issues that plague writers every day. Always use caution! Software like this is typically structured to default to paper-based book's formatting structure which is not what you want. The product itself is going to be in eBook format. Make sure you set this properly! The format should be e-reader friendly, so do your best to format your book in a way that is compatible with most of them. Whether you are using a format for Nook, Kindle or Sony eReaders, you need to be careful of these differences.

Any eBook that you write, especially when you are trying to tap into the IM marketplace, should be much shorter than nonfiction or fiction that you would buy at a store. As an Internet Marketer, the eBook you create should probably be between twenty and thirty pages - the length of a big report. It is important not to write something long because the information, for this market, must be specific. It is important that you sell eBooks for less, multiple copies, if you have a lot of material to cover that you want to get out there. Don't make a big eBook! Makes you think about this when you write!

All successful writers know that a first draft is going to be sloppy and full of errors, so they know better than to publish this initial effort. You can be certain that your first draft is not ready to be seen by the public. A first draft isn't meant to be perfect; it's the time to put down whatever comes into your head. As you read it over later, you'll notice lots of errors that need correcting, and probably some sections that need a complete overhaul. Each draft will be a little better than the last one, but you don't have to overdo it; most eBooks are at their best by the third draft or so.

Creating an eBook can be a challenging and demanding task. The truth is that writing an eBook is no easier than writing a regular paper-based book. It is just as difficult to write a book you are going to sell digitally. The more effort you put into your eBook, the more likely it is that it will be a hit among your readers. The above suggestions can help you get started!
