What To Look For When Evaluating iPhone Plans

By Trajanka Dema

It was just late last year when the iPhone 4S was released, and since then many have purchased or ditched their old phones for Apple's best iPhone yet. In fact, the company has announced that they were able to sell four million units in the first three days of its release - the most ever for a phone. There are several features on the iPhone 4S which contributed to its worldwide success and popularity. One of the most notable additions to the iPhone 4S is Siri, a voice recognition system, and the iCloud service. Many say that Siri is probably the most important feature on the iPhone 4S and one of the most novel applications Apple has ever produced.

The iPhone 4S users will quickly notice the speed upgrade which is largely due to the A5 dual-core processor of this fifth generation iPhone. Its GPU is also 7x faster than those from its predecessors. These improvements are most noticeable in resource-intensive applications like games. This phone also features an 8MP camera which allows you to take vivid and accurate photos. The camera can also shoot 1080 HD videos.

This 5th generation iPhone also boasts more powerful antennas to provide you with better reception. The smartphone also can give you up to 14.4 Mbps data speeds, which allows you to connect, surf, and download seamlessly.

However, owning an iPhone 4S is not cheap. You have to buy the voice, text, and data plans which can easily reach a hundred bucks each month. The best iPhone plan to get is one that you can comfortably pay for yet still fits your needs in terms of voice minutes, text, and data.

There are several things you need to consider when evaluating iPhone 4S plans and price would be one of them. The good thing is that most of the carriers make it possible for you to tailor your plan to match your needs and budget. In the USA, Sprint is the best choice for those who don't want to spend as much. For about a hundred bucks each month, you already get to enjoy 900 minutes of voice calls, unlimited texting and data.

Price is only one criterion when choosing plans, the most important factors are speed and coverage. Among the three most popular carriers in the US, AT&T (Verizon and Sprint being the other two) is perceived by most as the winner in terms of network quality because it is the only one that is a GSM carrier. A speed test performed by PCWorld in 2011 revealed that among the carriers, iPhone 4S on AT&T plans are able to reach download speeds of 1,400 kbps. While expert and consumer reviews can point you to the right direction, it would be better to ask recommendations from people you trust so you can have an unbiased opinion about their overall experience with a particular carrier.
