Carbon Emissions Need To Be Monitored To Ensure Better Quality Air

By Miguel Rivera

Carbon emissions are caused by burning fossil fuels such as gas, coal or oil. When they burn the give off carbon dioxide which is typically absorbed by plants and trees. The problem lies in the increasing amount of these emissions that are being created. As deforestation continues to reduce the number of trees and plants the temperature of the Earth increases since more carbon dioxide is left unabsorbed.

The human population has been burning fossil fuels for thousands of years but the quantities in today's world are much larger than ever before. They are needed to be burned at several stages in the production of products, services and food. The expression carbon footprint is employed to define the entire amount of fossil fuels utilized on an ongoing basis. We hear this term daily in the news and media.

The consumption of fossil fuels can be measured by calculating the amount of gas and electricity we are using in our daily living situations. This includes the quantities used when driving our vehicles. For those who must travel great distances for their work they can also measure the distances they travel and count the number of flights they take.

Another poisonous gas that is produced from burning fossil fuels is called methane. The entire groups of gases that are given off are called greenhouse carbons or hydro-carbons. One of the main reasons why the ocean temperatures are on the rise is due to hydro-carbons. There is worldwide concern about the fate of many animals losing their habitats due to rising temperatures. Mating seasons are affected glaciers have melted leaving transforming glaciers to oceans.

Certain countries of the world are currently experiencing explosive economic growth. This means that there are more hydrocarbons being released into the air due to more people driving cars. More factories are also being built to accommodate the growing demand for consumer products on a global level.

The Asian economies have the largest populations in the world. Other countries have put the pressure on the leaders of these nations to find solutions for cleaner air. The population of 1.9 billion people still follows the traditional lifestyle of burning wood and coal so new ways of thinking need to be adopted.

Increasing carbon emissions continue to exacerbate air and water quality. Most Danes have chosen to commute on bicycles and this trend is growing in North America. People are encouraged to contribute in the drive to reduce their consumption of fossil fuels for a better world to live in.
