All You Need To Know About Epoxy Injections

By Shari Swanson

Epoxy injections generally refer to sealers that are used when a building is being repaired. Normally, they are used in case the repair is to be done on cracks which may have developed on a building constructed using concrete. When injected, it protects the building from water flooding as well as sealing the cracks.

Weak rebar and cracks makes any concrete foundation weak. This in turn makes the building unsafe for occupation. The injection of epoxy into the cracks seals them and allows the foundations made of concrete to retain their integrity and strength. These injections are the only solution to cracked foundations which does not involve reconstruction.

The process of applying this sealer is very simple and easy to carry out. The utilization of materials of the best quality should be a priority since they help in protecting the rebar form premature deterioration. The application of these seal is normally done using a machine which must be adjusted from task to task.

Ports are systematically drilled when doing the repair. This is normally the first step. The drilling is done along the crack which needs to be sealed. The machine used in this drilling process must be capable of creating a vacuum.

Strategic drilling of ports is done so as to ensure complete filling of all the cracks. When filling, one starts from the first drilled port and moves across without skipping any port. This procedure is carried out until all the cracks are completely sealed.

epoxy injections can be performed in any environment and weather as long as the given precautions are applied. The temperature must be retained at a given range for an optimum application. Several different chemicals may also be added for the sealer to fit into extreme weather condition. The weather under which repairing can be done may be extremely cold or hot.
